Soup & Bread for the Good Fork | Soup and Bread

Well, November has turned suddenly soupy. We?re hosting a special pre-Thanksgiving edition of Soup & Bread on Wednesday, November 21, to raise funds for our friends Ben Schneider and Sohui Kim at the excellent Brooklyn restaurant The Good Fork, which was devastated by Super Storm Sandy. Details are evolving but so far we?ve got soup from Bloodshot?s Rob Miller, Soup & Bread design guru Sheila Sachs, SCHWA (!), and me. I?m planning to try and replicate the amazing sunchoke soup chef Sohui created for our first-ever Brooklyn Soup & Bread.

We had a magical dinner at the Good Fork the day after that soupfest in 2010, and Ben and Sohui are basically the best people you could possibly meet. Rob?s post on?the Bloodshot blog?gives a comprehensive overview of the sitch on the (now snowy) ground, and the massive rebuilding project they have ahead. If you can?t make the event, but would still like to make a donation, Ben and Sohui also now have this?fundraising site. Restore Red Hook is raising money for the community at large, and we plan to send them some dollars as well.

So c?mon: Get out of the house and pick up an extra Thanksgiving pie before the holidays reach out and grab you by the mittens! We?re also working on a silent auction. And a bake sale. Oh, and Publican Quality Meats is donating the bread. And Rob and Jon Langford will DJ. Every little bit helps.
