Just-Eat Just Raised Another $64M From Vitruvian, Index, Greylock For Online Food Ordering

just eat logoThe UK may have just entered a double-dip recession but that doesn't seem to have trickled down to how consumers are spending money on take-out food -- and the companies that are building businesses around that. The UK-based online food ordering site Just-Eat has picked up a third round of funding totaling $64 million, its biggest yet, to further build out its online food ordering service. The round was led by private equity firm Vitruvian Partners, with participation from existing investors Index Ventures, Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures. The investment comes only a year after the company raised a venture round of $48 million, and a Series A of $17.4 million in 2009, and brings the total funding in the company up to a whopping $129.4 million in the last three years.

Digital Storm locks and loads Ivy Bridge into its new recruits

Digital Storm locks and loads Ivy Bridge into its new recruits

Digital Storm has announced that its premium-priced (and not so premium-priced) gaming PCs will soon be touting Ivy Bridge processors. This means, going forward, all machines will come with the Intel's third generation Core architecture, with the PC maker already claiming it's managed overclocks at 4.8GHz. Like its machines, Digital Storm is keeping cool on when the systems will find their way from workshop to LAN, or what effect (if any) there'll be on pricing. Keep the cross hairs focused on the source link for more info.

Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details

Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details

Well, well, talk about déjà vu! It was just yesterday that a corner of Sony's 16.1 megapixel NEX-F3 leaked onto the interwebs and now more photos have surfaced, along with a previously unannounced shooter, the Alpha A37 SLT. The pictures come courtesy of Yang Canggih, which says it had a chance to demo the two devices yesterday at Sony's Partner's Conference in Jakarta (curiously, the NEX-F3 post isn't live as of this writing, but Sony Alpha Rumors has the images up). Starting with the F3, the mirrorless camera has lost a smidgen of the curves found on its older sibling, the C3, adopting a slight bit of the angular edges that once made the NEX-7 the badass standout in the lineup. You'll notice that the shutter button and grip have an uncanny resemblance to the 7's, not to mention that it's clearly gained a pop-up flash -- a first for the lower-end NEXs. Past that, the rumored -- and self-portrait friendly -- 180 degree tilt-screen is also present, which'll likely give the C3 an edge over its siblings when it comes to composing shots. Also worth note, some of the buttons on back have been slightly repositioned.

Moving along, those hoping for a successor to the A35 will apparently have their wish granted with the 16.1 megapixel A37. According to Yang Canggih, it features the articulating display from last generation of NEX cams, Auto Portrait Framing (first introduced with the A57), four more effect modes than the a35 (up from 11) and an ergonomic grip in the vein of the A77. Sadly, that's about all that's currently known, so hopefully we'll get an official introduction to the cameras soon. Head past the break for a shot of the A37 and then check out the links below for even more of both.

"Exciting Cameos" for New '30 Rock' Live Episode

Why is 30 Rock doing another live episode? Well, NBC asked them to do it, and they were "just dumb enough to say yes," says Tina Fey in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. This Thursday, the show will air live at 8:30 p.m. ET, and then restaged at 8:30 p.m. PT.

Intel's Ivy Bridge will offer '20 percent more performance with 20 percent less average power'

So, there's still a little while to go before Intel gives Ivy Bridge a full unveiling, with official benchmarks, pricing and all those trimmings. But in the meantime, the BBC has detailed just how different this new architecture is compared to 32nm chips like Sandy Bridge and also AMD's coming Trinity processors. Most of this stuff we already knew -- like the fact that Intel has switched to a 3D or 'tri-gate' transistor design -- but what's new is a direct and official boast about performance. According to Kirk Skaugen, Chipzilla's PC chief, we can expect Ivy Bridge to deliver "20 percent more processor performance using 20 percent less average power." Now, judging from leaked desktop and laptop benchmarks, this broad-brush claim masks some very different realities depending on what type of CPU or GPU workloads you want throw at the chip, so stay tuned for more detail very soon.

BlackBerry Playbook joins the Angry Birds Space bandwagon

Image

To the surprise of no one, Angry Birds Space has ballooned into a casual gaming phenomenon -- a feat that Rovio has somehow managed without the aid of a BlackBerry PlayBook audience. RIM announced today, however, that fans of its deeply discounted tablet can now hop on board the train to space pig payback, for the low, low price of $3, that is, unless you're saving up for that 4G version we've been hearing about...

Why Get A Credit Card Processing Machine For Your Business ...

How Credit Card Processing Works

Primary advantages of merchant services ratings, merchant services, merchant services training and merchant services virtual terminal

Big businesses may be able to spend a bit more for their credit card providers and not feel the pinch too much in their bottom line. Invite estimates from five or more credit card processing services and evaluate their prices and features. In fact, lots of people these days do not even maintain cash in their own wallets.

Right after that, your account will be activated and ready to use. That is why credit card processing performs an integral part for many businesses of late. In order to recoup fees lost from interchange obligations, many banking institutions may appear to make significant changes in other areas of the banking process, as many small businesses and merchants contend that interchange fees seem to be hurting success.

Clearly, a great a merchant account plan is a great way to revitalize your online business. In this instance, small business credit card processing won a new number of customers for the restaurant. Whether you?re starting a new business or expanding a current 1, part of your own growth or expansion should include 1 or more providers offered by a merchant credit card processing support.

The gateway consists of a virtual terminal and an set up website shopping cart. Though e-commerce has existed for some time now, website owners nevertheless face issues in getting merchant accounts from banks and banking institutions because of the risk of credit card fraud. It is the percentage of cash the provider charges for every transaction.

Card-present companies are perceived as lower risk, so they pay lower Visa as well as MasterCard switch fees. Make sure that you work with the provider who is reputable and is a registered ISO supplier. Read up on your Independent Product sales Office (ISO) and discover how close to the actual company they are.

It is important to shop around before deciding on an account provider with regard to online deal handling. For charges, penalties or costs, discuss these matters thoroughly with your service provider prior to signing a contract with them. So, it?s not necessary to call your office for digesting a credit card quantity.

After a acquisition of perhaps $100 through the customer, the business may end up with $97.0 in the end the charges have been deducted. You may or may not be charged all these charges and some of these could be refundable if you stick with your provider for any stipulated amount of time. With regard to businesses, on the internet payment provides the advantages of not having to secure authorizations or ensure obligations are credited to their accounts, tasks that are addressed by a greeting card processor.

Those consist of mail order an internet-based businesses who process charge cards while the client is in a remote location. His or her name indicates, instant accounts can be setup almost immediately. A number of them include NABU that indicates MasterCard deal fee, DSCV that stands for Uncover, POS meaning point of sale and MC that stands for MasterCard.

When you speak with an account supplier about 3-Tier rates, make sure the majority of your dealings will receive the actual qualified price, and that an intensive analysis of the sales situation in terms of transaction types is performed prior to agreeing on the terms of an account. Unfortunately, these days, it doesn?t visit having the lowest processing rate, or at having credit card processing options for your customers. Stores such as CVS, PetSmart, and Borders Book stores all possess electronic low cost cards that permit customers to benefit from immediate savings.

Online merchants or e-commerce businesses are regarded as high risk in addition to any adult businesses or travel businesses.

Inhabitat's Week in Green: ten earth activities, transnatural stools and wood ash bike frames

Each week our friends at Inhabitat recap the week's most interesting green developments and clean tech news for us -- it's the Week in Green.

Image

Happy Earth Day! In honor of Earth Week, this week we took a moment to think about the origins of this now-global event, exploring why we need Earth Day and how our society can possibly tackle the 7 biggest threats to our environment. If haven't yet made plans for Earth day make sure to take a look at our list of 10 Earth Day activities. One of the major themes of Earth Week this year was lighting, as green lighting innovations ranging from the useful to the absurd made it onto Inhabitat's radar screen. On the more practical end of the spectrum, we reviewed the SUNNAN, Ikea's solar-powered desk lamp, and although we found it to be a bit dim, it actually outperformed its expected charge time. On the lighter side, Randy Sarafan, the same guy who designed a chair that tweets his own farts (seriously), unveiled a lamp that shuts off whenever you shut your eyes. The downside: In order for it to work you have to attach electrodes to your face, which are plugged directly into the wall. Thanks, but we'll pass. And for those who prefer regular, old-fashioned lights, Philips launched its much-anticipated L-Prize winning 10-watt LED bulb on Earth Day. At $60 a pop, you might have to take out a second mortgage to replace every bulb in your home, but you'll recoup that money back on your energy bill, and Philips also announced some rebates to ease the pain.

Ju-Ju-Be Micra Be Laptop Bag

Comfortable and compact, the Ju-Ju-Be Micra Be Laptop bag ($90, direct) protects tablets, ereaders, small netbooks, and other flat electronics very well without weighing you down. Constructed with an eye toward details, this multipurpose electronics bag has several features that point toward a long life: secure stitching, metal fasteners and zipper pulls, and tough but washable fabric. The only thing holding back this bag from donning your shoulder for a decade or more is that it's not available in classic prints and colors. A small selection of prints, including "fuchsia blossoms" and "jungle maze" (shown) may look dated sooner than you'd like.

The 1-pound bag measures 8.5 by 11.5 by 2.5 inches (HWD). It has two tiered front storage sections, plus a quick-access pouch in the rear. When unzipped, the main pouch hinges open to almost 90 degrees with two compartments on the inside for small gear and an elastic strap on the flap side to hold your tablet in place. An iPad fits perfectly, as do netbooks smaller than about 12 inches. I wish the elastic band had been on the inside, however, as that seemed the more natural location for my tablet, rather than the part that folds outward.

The Micra Be's perforated foam cushioning and breathable lining help ensure your devices can cool down when you slip them into the bag. A soft inner lining in the main pouch, and in the pockets of the smaller front pouch, protects your gadgets from getting scratched. The bag also comes with a matching drawstring purse (6.5 by 5.75 inches) for storing cables, a mouse, or other small components.

I love that the fabric is both machine washable and easy to wipe down with a damp cloth for spot cleaning. The adjustable messenger strap felt comfortable while I walked a few miles one evening carrying the Micra Be.

The Ju-Ju-Be Micra Be Laptop bag securely and comfortably stores your gear, and is built to last many years. For its construction, I recommend it highly, but for its print designs, I only wish Ju-Ju-Be included a few more classic options.

Shuttle Enterprise waits for its New York debut

Bill Ingalls / NASA

The prototype space shuttle Enterprise is seen mated on top of NASA's modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Friday. Enterprise was the first orbiter built for the space shuttle program, but never went into orbit. It was used primarily for ground and flight tests within the atmosphere. Enterprise had been on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, but is now being prepared for its new home at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum in New York.

By Alan Boyle

A day after the space shuttle Discovery took its place at the Smithsonian, the prototype shuttle Enterprise is perched on a modified 747 jet for its journey to New York. Now the timing of the trip depends on East Coast weather.

Overnight, Enterprise was towed out to Dulles International Airport and hoisted up into the air with two giant cranes. The jet, known as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft or SCA, was brought underneath the 75-ton artifact. Then Enterprise?was lowered down and "soft-mated" onto the plane at three attach points. The bolts will be tightened down for hard-mating on Saturday, in preparation for the big flight to New York.

This is the same process that Discovery went through in Florida leading up to Tuesday's flight to Dulles for its installation at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, next to the airport. On Thursday, Enterprise was moved out of the space it held since the center's opening in 2003, and Discovery was moved in.

NASA had been planning for Enterprise and the SCA to take off from Dulles as early as Monday morning, but this afternoon the space agency said the flight would be delayed due to a forecast of inclement weather in Washington as well as New York. "Managers will continue to review weather forecasts and announce a new flight date as soon as practical," NASA said in its advisory.

When forecasters give the go-ahead, the shuttle-jet combo will head up the East Coast and do a series of New York?flyovers. You can expect to see the?double-decker behemoth sailing over the Statue of Liberty as well as the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, the retooled ship where Enterprise will be put on display. After the flyovers, the Enterprise will be set down at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The shuttle-jet flight is old hat for Enterprise: The craft was the first vehicle built?for the space shuttle program, and got its name in part?thanks to a write-in campaign by "Star Trek" fans. Unlike the fictional starship, NASA's Enterprise never flew in space. Instead, it was used for ground tests as well as aerodynamic test flights atop the 747 carrier plane. Once the shuttle launches ramped up, Enterprise was deemed no longer needed for testing. It was handed over to the Smithsonian in 1985. The Udvar-Hazy Center's James S. McDonnell Space Hangar was specifically designed to show off the Enterprise.

After the 2003 Columbia tragedy, some sections of the Enterprise's wing panels were removed for impact tests, and?those tests made a huge contribution to the accident investigation. That demonstrated that the shuttles can continue to benefit the space program long after their retirement.

It will take a few weeks for Enterprise to settle into its retirement home: The cranes will have to be set up for the shuttle's "demating" at JFK. Then Enterprise will have to be lifted onto a barge and brought up the Hudson River by a tugboat. The schedule calls for Enterprise to be hoisted aboard the Intrepid's flight deck?sometime in June. It'll be put on display in a temporary climate-controlled pavilion this summer, and eventually housed in a permanent exhibit facility.

After Enterprise, there's one more shuttle-jet flight on tap: the transfer of Endeavour from NASA's Kennedy Space Center to the California Science Center in Los Angeles. That cross-country trip, due to take place in the latter part of this year, is likely to?spark a nationwide?frenzy of "Spot the Shuttle" sightings.

The?last?shuttle that flew in space, Atlantis, is going just down the road to Kennedy Space Center's visitor center, so there'll be no need to bring out the plane for that trip.

For more pictures of the Enterprise-747 mating, check out NASA Headquarters' Flickr gallery. And to get updates on the timing of Enterprise's flight and the flyovers, keep tabs on NASA's website as well as msnbc.com's space news section.

The protoype shuttle Enterprise will journey to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on the Hudson River. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

Are Payday Loans For You? - finance

If you need money in a hurry, the chances are payday loans are right for you. These loans are designed to allow people to borrow small sums of money secured against their next wage packet. They are designed to help people out in situations where they have no other alternative source of money. If, you have savings you may wish to consider using some of that money rather than taking out a loan to get you through a short-term financial problem. Who Qualifies for Payday Loans? Provided you are in regular employment, are aged over 18 and your wages are paid directly into a bank account you are likely to qualify for this kind of loan. Because the loan is secured against your next wage packet how much you can borrow is directly linked to how much you earn per month. These loans are designed to be very short term and are not designed to get you through longer-term financial difficulties. With payday loans, a poor credit history is not necessarily a barrier to securing this type of loan. When you take out a loan a direct debit from your bank account is set up, so as soon as your wages hit your bank account the loan company is paid what you owe.

Deliver The Love With Mmmule: Let Strangers Carry Things To Other Places For You

Screen Shot 2012-04-20 at 12.00.30 PMI had to start braising the beef, pork butt and veal shanks for the tomato sauce. It was Michael's favorite. I was making ziti with the meat gravy and I'm planning to roast some peppers over the flames and I was gonna put on some string beans with some olive oil and garlic, and I had some beautiful cutlets that were cut just right, that I was going to fry up before dinner just as an appetizer. So I was home for about an hour. Now my plan was to start the dinner early so Karen and I could unload the guns that Jimmy didn't want, and then get the package to the Mmmule.com courier to take to California for her trip later that night. My plan was I had to get home and get the package ready for the Mmmule carrier to take on her trip. Then I had the cooking to finish at home, and I had to get Lois ready for her trip.

Day 111: ZuzkaLight review: Have you been Z ... - FemFusion Fitness

As I have stated before, this is a women?s interest blog with varying info about fitness, women?s health, food/nutrition, and even a bit of fashion and beauty thrown in the mix, but I must warn you: For the next few weeks I am going to focus heavily on FOOD.?And I am SO EXCITED. I have been hard at work on super-simple Paleo-friendly recipes that the whole family will love. Most of my upcoming recipes consist of only three to four ingredients, and ALL ingredients will be readily available at any grocery store. Not just fancy ?gourmet? stores or ?health-food? stores ? no, no no. We?re talking ingredients that are available at your local Super-Wal-Mart or Safeway (or better yet, your local farmers market!). So stay tuned: More info about my super-simple recipe series is coming next week. Check back, and tell your friends! Your support via comments and Facebook ?likes? feeds my soul and gives me the encouragement needed to keep posting daily. Because it?s a lot of work.

Until then, it?s important for me to get some fitness info out there, especially since the original focus of this blog was women?s health and fitness!

Have you heard of BodyRock.tv? I had? But I didn?t know much about it until recently. First, let me state this (and?I know I?m not the only female who feels this way): Women can be EVEN MORE FUN to look at than men. A beautiful female is a sight to behold, and an athletic, toned, fit female is inspirational and motivating (to me). So back to?BodyRock: Although I love seeing lean, athletic female physiques I was a little turned off by the blatant sexualization of the men and women who demo the exercises on BodyRock.

Check it out:

But what BodyRock offers is important, because it highlights power moves, which?many women stop doing?as they age. They might have played high-intensity sports in high school or college, and even taken a few bootcamp-style fitness classes in their twenties and thirties, but in general women stop the ?hardcore? exercises that make sweat pour, the heart pound, and the breathing labored. I?m no exception: I also prefer a more comfortable ? shall we say ? form of fitness (such as yoga, walking, a bit of weight training, and my FemFusion classes, which are intense but low-impact). However, a few weeks ago I started adding one to two ?power? sessions each week and it has (already!) done wonders in terms of sculpting my muscles, revving my metabolism, and giving me energy that lasts throughout the day.

But I don?t do BodyRock. I?ve found something better!?She goes by the name of ZuzkaLight.

Zuzka?s ?real name? (well, maybe real) is Zuzana, and she was actually the co-founder of BodyRock when BodyRock started a few years ago. Recently, she left BodyRock and went in a (slightly) different direction. She started her own fitness ?channel? on YouTube, which you can access and subscribe to by clicking here. My opinion is that Zuzana?s workouts are BETTER than those found on BodyRock.tv, and here?s why:

  • Although Zuzana is a bombshell and it?s VERY CLEAR that she is capitalizing on her looks, the filming is far less focused on capturing boob and butt shots. Rather, the filming clearly captures the exercise session. The exercise is the star, rather than T & A. Well, that point may be debatable, but it?s the view I?m taking.
  • From what I have seen, Zuzana tends to use less equipment than the videos on BodyRock. I haven?t done all of her workouts? I?ve actually only done two of them over and over. When she does use equipment it tends to be readily available items such as medicine balls and weights rather than specific equipment pushed by the website (as in BodyRock, where they have an entire section devoted to buying the equipment they use in their vids).
  • Zuzana?s manner is sweet and encouraging. She makes it clear that she?s working hard and motivates her followers to keep up with her.
  • The best part: In each video, she goes through the entire workout with you. They tend to be 10-15 minutes long. With the BodyRock vids I?ve viewed, they just show you clips of the intervals you?re supposed to do and then you do them on your own, with your own interval timer. For those of us who don?t have an interval timer, Zuzana?s vids are nice? You can use hers. I?m still a proponent of rest-based interval training as described by the Metabolic Effect Diet gurus, Jade and Keoni Teta, who encourage you to rest only when you need to and pushing when you don?t need to, but Zuzana?s workouts are intense enough that I always need to rest when her interval timer says it?s ?rest time.?)

The cons:

  • Safety may be an issue, especially for viewers who are just starting out in terms of fitness/strengthening. Her routines are extremely challenging and seem to be tailored to athletes and people who are pretty far along in their fitness journey(s). In the videos I?ve watched, Zuzana?doesn?t provide many modifications, and when she does, she usually provides the modifications (i.e. to make the moves easier/less challenging) toward the end of the routine when she ? herself ? is getting tired. I?ll tell ya: If you?re a beginner, you?re going to be tired far before she is and?from the beginning you may not be doing the exercise properly due to weakness or lack of stamina/endurance.
  • Her workouts contain a lot of high impact movements, which may be problematic for women with pelvic floor dysfunction. If you have pelvic organ prolapse or incontinence issues, I recommend talking to your doctor or women?s health physical therapist before trying her high-impact moves. If you ARE going to try her stuff, remember to ZIP UP especially before jumping, etc., or exercises that require a lot of balance.

My take on Zuzana vs. BodyRock? Zuzana wins, hands-down. :)

Space Shuttle Fly Over Delayed by Weather

MANHATTAN ? The voyages of the space shuttle Enterprise will have to wait for another day.

The space shuttle Enterprise was set to boldly go to Manhattan on Monday, with a morning flyover taking it past some of the city's iconic landmarks, but the trip has been "postponed until further notice due to unfavorable weather forecast," NASA said.

"To ensure a safe flight for Enterprise and the [Shuttle Carrier Aircraft], NASA managers, in consultation with the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, decided Friday to delay the flight because of inclement weather predicted in both New York and Washington, where the flight will originate," according to a statement from officials.

The forecast for Monday calls for rain and a high of 59 degrees.

The agency has yet to determine a rain date for the shuttle's grand flight to New York.

Mounted on the back of a specially-outfitted Boeing 747, the Enterprise was originally set to fly from Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport to John F. Kennedy Airport.

The prototype shuttle, which never flew in space and was used largely for test flights within earth's atmosphere, will eventually find a permanent home at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum.? The Enterprise is one of four shuttles being sent to various museums across the country. Three others that did make it to the final frontier will be housed in Florida, Los Angeles, and Virginia.

D.C. residents were treated to their own space show earlier this week, when the same 747 flew the shuttle Discovery to its new home at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum' Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, passing by spectators on the National Mall and flying past the Washington Monument.

It was unclear if this will delay the Enterprise's trip to its final destination. The shuttle will stay at JFK for a few months before it finally makes its way to Hell's Kitchen. Later in the summer, the shuttle will be placed on a barge that will be moved by tugboat up the Hudson to the Intrepid Museum.
